Will this work right?

Ok, I really need to upgrade my RAM, 256 mb is what I got right now, ownage eh?

so I was thinking about this on newegg

So, my mobo on my gateway (BAH!) has two RAM slots, and if I remove the current 256 my files wil not be erases right? I hope so hehe.

And is there any problems I would encounter installing this?
here are my specs.

2.26 ghz Pentium 4
And all the other standard gateway crap. ( no name brands)

So will this be compatible on my PC without destroying my files?
