Specs OK?

Well my computer is waaaaayyyyyy outdated and I refuse to remain a console gamer. Im planing on having my friend build a computer for me. What I want to know is, is this gonna be able to play games like doom3 and battlefield 2? Is it gonna be able to play the newest games for a while?

AMD Athalon 64 3400
2 GB of PCC 3200 DDR RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 XT 256 MB
550 Watt Power Supply

I know its not very specific but what do ya think?

2g/b or RAM is not necessary IMO. I would go with a Geoforce 6800GT or at least a 6600GT. Dont go with that radeon. I converted.

Drop down to 1gb of ram. Make sure you get a AMD 64 scket 939, venice core CPU (The 3500 or the 3200)

With the money you saved from the ram, get a 6600gt (or if you don't mind waiting about a month, than the 7800 and X900's come out, so you can get a 6800gt alot cheaper, or the new GPU's)

Make sure that the PSU is from a good company, like Antec, Thermaltake, OCZ etc. and not a generic company.
