bad network card or cable? Is it slow when you put in the unc path and browse the network folders?

weird thing is that when the network drives are disabled, i was able to navigate c: and d: perfectly.. as soon as i map even just one network drive, navigating c: and d: and the one network drive slows down dramatically... i can't quite figure it out...

I'm not quite sure what UNC path is.. please explain..

Thanks..

reinstalling xp might help. you might have soo much crud slowying down your comp that when you mapp it, it can't handle the extra resources

before you do that install freemem. it will let you know how much ram that you are using while you are doing things. going below 100mb will usually slow up your computer

UNC path is the name of the server and share i.e. \\server1\sharedfolder
use the run box and just type it in then press enter. You can also browse the network via my network places.

Does it have a floppy drive?
lol i wouldn't use a floppy anyhow though...
-blitze

PS
you can most likely get one pretty cheap if you get a basic one....
