During the summer, I'm going to be building a pc. The problem is I'm on a 1500 budget and that includes future upgrades. So in reality, if I want to set aside 400 for future upgrades, I have a 1,100 Budget. I did some research, and I figured out generally what parts I will buy. The main problem is the power supply. Someone help me out here. Also make suggestions to my build please. Take in mind that the most intensive game I will be playing is World of Warcraft, so I don't need a top of the line Graphics card. Also, I'm not looking to OC like crazy, so I have no need for the 64 3200+.

So basically, I need advice for a power supply. Keep in mind that these are not all the components. OS+Monitor+Keyboard/mouse still needs to be included.

Get a sata hdd, because, if you wanted to get another one, than you can put it in RAID 0, and with sata, this gives a very noticable performance increase when loading things. Seagate and western digital are the best manufacturers.

For the power supply, Thermaltake, Antec, OCZ are the main really good ones. Remember to make sure that it is a 24pin powersupply, and not a 20 pin one.

I really recomend not getting that graphics card. The 6600gt would really be worth the investment. WOW would have to be played on low settings, and future games, will barely play. If you wait a bit, the new GPU's are coming out, so the prices will drop a nice amount, so you could pick up a better card cheaply.

Also, I would put that money towards the PC now, as you would end up paying more on the upgrades (but then again, that would be enough (hopefully) for the new X900 series, and 7800.

How do I know if a power supply is 24 pin as opposed to 20 pin? New egg doesn't say anything there.
Also, the system requirements for wow is extermely low. A 6600 gt would be overkill for wow, and i'm not looking to play games that are graphics intensive as doom3. When I do plan on playing more graphics intensive games, I will buy a better video card.
As for raid 0, I know about the benefits of striping, but I don't think that getting 2 hard drives is worth it, especially since I have a 300 gb external hard drive.
Also, I was wondering to what extent the video card could be overclocked. Any suggestions for a heatsink/fan for the video card?

Also, a nother question. What are the benefits of more pipelines? Is having more pipelines better than having a higher clock speed on the core/memory of the video card?

think of pipelines like a highway.....what would you rather travel on.....a highway with 2 lanes and 10,000 cars or a highway with 20 lanes and 10,000 cars......more pipelines = more information and bandwidth to go through.

For that board, be SURE to get a QUALITY minimum 480W PSU with native 24 pin connector (no bullcrap 20-24 pin adapters allowed). This is the MINIMUM requirements for this board, it is definitely a power hog, and I've seen too many people who have problems with it because they went cheap with the PSU.

I know i need a quality psu with a 24 pin connector. That is why I posted this. Any suggestions that won't break my bank?

Not too sure about the Thermaltake either way. On the DFI boards, the Fortron Blue 500W is regularly recommended as a budget PSU. I've got the Enermax 485W Noisetaker (P495VE SFMA or something like that) on my Ultra-D with zero problems. Voltages are running within 2.3% or less, so it's doing well for me.

P.S. Are you planning on doing any overclocking?
