I can burn CD-Rs (generic brands) with my CD-burner/DVD-rom drive, but then it doesnt read the data I just burnt. I put the CD in another drive and it reads the data fine.

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite A25-S3072 with CD combo drive SD-R2412. Does this maybe have something to do with firmware? or just the hardware? or something else?

I used a cd head cleaner and nothing is different.

Any advice?

o yea, and burning at 1x, 2x, or 12x makes no difference. Also, when I first put in the blank disk, it recognizes it's a blank disk, but after the burn, it reads it as a non-blank disk but with no data. I am using windows built in burner, and nero.

It's probably just because the disks are not high quality, but then what can I do to fix this? Firmware update?

Just to eliminate the CDs as the problem (or blame them), I would try a different brand of CD-R.

Trying a different CD is gonna be easier than replacing the drive/upgrading the firmware.
