wierd gfx card problem

hey,
today when i was installing a usb2.0 card on my brothers pc, on first restart the machine powered up fine, HDD span up etc, no error beeps. but the monitor only showed a blank screen.
i know the monitor is plugged in etc, because otherwise it dislays a "no input signal" message, however all i get is a completely blank screen. any ideas? it is a pretty old pc so my first bet would be the gfx card just giving up. although any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Did you try taking the USB card back out?

yeah that was the first thing i tried, also cleared CMOS, checked all the jumpers, took the card out and blew the slot incase it was dusty .
i'm fresh outta ideas!

Try putting another gfx card in it to see if that is indeed the problem.

Yeah, its always good to have an extra cheap videocard laying around... I got two just in case.. I wish i had a couple of processors though too.. even though they rarely ever fail.
