I can't open the chm files

Hi guys, I don't know why I can't opent eh chm files anymore, I usually open them and read books in chm format, now everytime I try to open them they pop out a message say
"can not open file : mk@msitstore: c:\**********.chm"
anybody know how I fix it ?

CHM files will use Internet Explorer to open up. I had a problem
with chm files not displaying images but I could view text. What I
did was opened Internet Explorer, went to Tools, Internet Options,
then the Advanced tab.

Your problem may lie within one of the sections within the
advanced tab and something is either checked or unchecked.

For me it was the Multimedia section and the Show Pictures
box was unchecked. I checked it and my CHM files would now
display images as well the text. I did get that same strange
message you get but for my image locations.

If IE is not corrupted, I would make note of everything you have
checked in each of the sections ie: Accessibility, Browsing,
Multimedia etc. Then I would experiment with checking/unchecking
until you can open your CHM file again.

that didn't help me, and I try to open the file in browser by typing the full path in but instead they try to open them they ask me I want to "save open or cancel", when I click open the same problem occur

so nobody else know how to fix that problem instead have to format and reinstall the winxp ?

Try this:

Go to START--then RUN & type the following:

regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\hhctrl.ocx


Let us know if it works..........

it said dllregisterserver sucess after I click run, but the problem still the same, can't open any .chm files
