I thought one was older than the other. Something like -Rs came out before +Rs (or the other way around). Not sure though.

I don't know the actual difference, but I do know that with DVD-R you get a better burn (With a DVD +R often jumps when playing a dvd.)

that is completely false info:mad:

it depends what burner you get. some like -R and some like +R

if anything these days +R is better for dvd video backup because of bitsetting.

only some burners support this though. it will write extra data to a +R to make it in to a dvd-rom.

which makes it alot more dvd player friendly.

although most dvd players will read both without the bitsetting, some are picky though.

if your getting skipping it's because your using crap media or your burner sucks or both

:D

-R is like the first generation of DVD format, all generations of DVD player can play and run it, so it is the most favorable.

new DVD player supports all the formats, so is the old player you have to worry about.

I hope that is correct.

most dvd players can play both with no problems.

i don't know why people get the idea that -R is more compatible?

but it's a fact that with bitsetting and a +R disc you will be more compatible then a -R disc.
