...to install a new motherboard and not lose all current files on a hard drive? I have a crapload of files I want to save when I get a new motherboard and don't want to spend forever backing them all up. Is there anyway to somehow not lose them?

Just transfer over your existing HD, you would have to find a MoBo that would support your current HD with all your files on it. Either that, or get an external HD, LOL.

If you use the same motherboard (make/model) you should be OK. If not...

You can put your current hard drive in as a slave drive and install Windows on a new drive. Your programs won't work, but all of your data will be there.
