CD-rom drive problem

Everytime I place a CD into the drive it wont read it anymore. IM not sure what the problem is because it used to read Cd's fine all the time. If anyone has any help on the matter i would appreciate it greatly.

Maybe the laser is dirty try one of those cd-rom cleaners, or the drive is dead, what brand name is it?

Its a Samsung DVD-ROM SD-186B

Well first go with the basics. Make sure that the all the cords are plugged in.

is the IDE cable (assuming it is IDE) plugged in right? Is the red strip facing the middle of the drive? Is cord from the ps in right, red wires to the middle (red faces red with drives)
