After going to my first LAN party in months and seeing everybody's setup I decided that I needed upgrades BAD, and now I'm in the upgrade fever but unsure exactly WHAT must be upgraded now.

Pentium 4 2.7 GHZ
2 sticks of 256 MB DDR RAM
Unknown MOBO w/o an agp slot!!!!
Radeon 9200 series 128MB
Intel Onboard sound (no problems with it)
1 fan, one cpu heatsink, and one GFX card Heatsink
Please help me out
:D

erm it really depends on how much cash u got to spend. i would really reccommend a new graphics card because that one is a very low end card from the last generation. if u can afford it get the 6600GT (by evga preferably) past that you might wanna stick another 512mb of ram in so u dont page file at all. next on list would be a new cpu/motherboard combo. a nice AMD 3200+ socket 939 (venice) with a DFI, MSI, or abit motherboard would make u a nice system :)

Graphics card, than the ram (to 1gb) than get a new motherboard + CPU (AMD is better for games)

edit: after re reading your post, motherboard + CPU, than graphics than ram.

Okay thanks for the advice, they have a 6600 over at newegg on sale, might have to buy that after I get a better mobo. any other advice or contradiction from other posters?

In regards to money, I have $400 dollars to spend NOW and getting more in a bit

this one is better only $132 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152
get an amd athlon 64 3200+ venice core, ($203)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103535
than an eVGA 6600GT, ($160)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130214
than this ram when it gets back in stock ($88, best valueram if you dont plan on serious OCing) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820218062

dude, no, the 9600xt isn't even pci-e which the DFI is, AND it costs more than the 6600gt, and corsair sucks, the twinmos has some decent OCing ability when you put the juice on it and it's dirt cheap.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122206 cheapest 6600gt

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102510 cheapest 9600xt

so hows it cheaper to get the 6600gt?

hehe, had it listing from highest price to lowest without knowing, top 6 or so were like 140+, but besides that it's agp, most of them are at least 100+ and they get horrible preformance for price now.
