I uninstalled my Nvidia drivers and put fresh ones on as instructed by Steam as it told me to get the latest version but on the installation of the new drivers I now get dialogs to install software/drivers for:

Other PCI Bridge Device
PCI Memory Controller
SM Bus Controller

Help! I only took my Nvidia drivers off and put new ones up and now this happened. Where can I get new drivers. All of these have the ! next to them in the Device Manager.

i have:

Asus A8N-E Mobo
6800 GT PCI-E
AMD 64 3500+
1Gig Ram
250Gig HDD

Do I need to do a fresh install?

Nvidia makes chipsets for more than just graphics cards.
Your motherboard uses the nvidia nforce 4 ultra chipset. When you uninstalled all of your nvidia drivers you got both the ones for your graphics card and the ones for your motherboard.

Take a look around asus.com or nvidia.com and see if you can find some new drivers. Of if you still have the driver disk for your motherboard it should be there too.

Below are a list of drivers I found for my motherboard on the Asus website. Which one do I need because I don't want to download the wrong one. The motherboard came with the PC so no manual or disc :(

As a general rule, you really want's to install your chipset (motherboard) drivers before any of your programs and stuff go on your comp- i.e they should be the very first thing you install on your comp after your OS.

Yea but the only reason this happened was because I had to uninstall my Nvidia drivers for new ones because Steam kept telling me they were outdated. Does anyone know which of the above drivers I need to download and install since no CD came with my motherboard as the system was pre-built.

If your mobo has an nForce 4 chipset, go to www.nvidia.com and dl your drivers from there. Hopefully you won't have any probs. Simple.

EDIT: Look for 'unified driver', that's for your chipset. ;)

Do you mean download the nForce 4 Standalone kit? I already got the graphics drivers from the website

Yes I know I already got the graphics drivers.

I mean do I need this:

Windows XP/2000 - nForce4 Standalone Kit (6.53)

Version: 6.53
Release Date: March 17, 2005

Yes! The standalone kit should contain your 4 in 1/chipset drivers :). What does it say in the documentation?
