broadband connected but no internet

Mams pc has a problem. Looks as though it connects to Pipex internet when hit the connect icon but get no real connection and get the page not found when using any internet page in IE. Have run a troubleshooting program for the modem and it reports back an error "Contact DNS Server but server did not resolve a name query" So summary, get the icon in the system tray as though connected but email, messenger does not work because not really connected ?

Double click your icon and see what it says your connected at.
You may also want to repair the connection, that works alot. However ive never used broadband, so that was just a shot in the dark sorry man.
