I post double checks in here mostly.. sorry

anyhow my question is this:
i have 2 sticks of ram, and 3 slots for it on my mother board. the ram are 256 each, kingston.

would it hurt to throw in a stick of 512?

It NEVER hurts to throw in more RAM!!! The more, the merrier. Just make sure it is not slower, for all the ram underclocks to the slowest speed.

There should be a sticker on the stick itself. If there isnt, you have to put the sticks in one by one and check the bios for their speeds. Actually, it shows when the computer posts.

Oh ok thank you... very sorry like i said i have almost no experience with hardware. ima software person :)

Whatever, it's cool. Was it there? More often than not, the sticks do not say what type of speed they are. Thats not really a problem now, since most all rigs are DDR. But in the days where there was SDRAM and EDO and all of that, it was hard to tell.

oh its a DDR ram.. if that helps? i do not have a chance to look right now. i will look tonight...

Of course it is DDR, they all are now. But I'm saying back in the day, just for comparison purposes.
