games ill play
Diablo2

gonna try guild wars and hl2 to see if i like

Go with a 939, not the 754. It's a few more bucks on the front end, but it is worth it.

754 has no dual channel support, and is slated to go to Sempron.

but 939 has no 2800 cpu which is 40bux cheaper, and im not gonna be able to fork up anymore money..

nvm

939 soletek mobo
3000 winchester amd
and a ati 9600pro

guess ill have to get pirated copy of xp, or get financial help

Look at it this way... You can always upgrade in the future.

It is better to skimp on the graphics card and memory right now. Buy the best mobo you can, as it is the main foundation you are building on. CPU, GPU, memory can be swapped out and upgraded easily.

Hard drive's are the same, but make sure that your main one, the one you start with, is a good one, and has enough capacity for your main stuff. You can add a data drive later.

Definitely go with a socket 939, and if I were you, I'd look into get a 9xxx series ATI card instead.....the FX series was pretty much a flop...also for future reference chaintech SUCKS dude...I had to RMA my 5700 within 2 months and now about 7-8 months later this RMA'd card is already dead
