Well with mine the monitor was always on before I turned on the computer and it would stay black. The little light was blinking like you said but it wasn't getting signal. So I turned off the monitor and turned it back on (when the computer had already been on for a few seconds) and it worked fine. Same thing with restarts. It just sounds a lot like what I have to do. It may not be the same thing, but it sure sounds like it!
Possible monitor or bios problem?
