Extension for firewire cable to mobo?

My case has a front firewire outlet, but comes with a short cable, and the mobo connector is way at the back of the case. The cable just barely reaches, and is tight over the video card. I'd like a better routing solution. Are extensions available for this cable? I've looked around, but have been unable to find any.

I've never seen any extension cables like what you are talking about. I had a similar problem with my SP/DIF wires, they werent long enough to plug into the soundcard. My friend at the time worke at an airport, and he extended the cable with a bunch of other little wires, and then shrink wrapped them. Works fine. I imagine you would have to custom mod the cable yourself. It's not that hard, you know how to solder?

Unfortunetely, to my knowledge, there is no easier way out. Cannabalize and old IDE cable, and use those wires as the extention wires for your firewire.
