good oc setup?

my friend and i are wanting to build a sweet OC setup and this is what i came up with for parts... do these sound good?

2.9ghz maybe more like 2.7-2.8 stable.. i'm not sure though because you'd have the 9x multiplier..

I've only tested the amd 64 3500 venice.. I used 10x and 11x clock settings.. It seemed to me that i capped out around 2.8 using 10x multiplier and 2.9 using 11x

.. And i've never used a DFI motherboard.. They seem nice, but everyone at work says they're crap.. I haven't heard any complaints out of anyone here about DFI

DFI offers the best OC boards, its as simple as that. They offer the most OC options on their boards. That 3000 runs at 1.8ghz, it wont be very easy for a 1ghz OC. Your cooling system determines your OC results. Im waiting for the new DFI AGP board coming out in june. This mobo will be the best AGP OC board for a long time. You can have 4.0volts running through your DDR!

Besides the fact DFI are ideal for OC, they are for any use.

Those are some very nice components. Really good ram, and a nice PSU. Most people dont realize the importance of a good PSU, but you do. good work. The MoBo is great, I have heard nothing but good things aboput DFI when it comes to Ocing. I dont think I have ever heard anything bad about DFI, pertaining to overclocking or otherwise. Apaprently their voltage regulators are very good too, as they automatically bump themselves up when they realize there is not enough power supplied to the board. Quite smart, if you ask me.

Bump up a little and get the AMD 3200+ Venice. It is not much, but they OC better than any other processor, including the 3500+ Venice and the 3000+ Venice. I cant give you a guesstimate on your speeds, but it seems senseless is not quite so senseless when it comes to this topic.

Have tons of fun, and make sure to post your results! Also, are you ever going to go with a supercooled solution? Phase change or the like? You totally should, then you can get some seriously crazy speeds out of that!

well a prometia or a mach (something) would work

they are single-phase change cooling, as opposed to huge crazy overclocking setups that are triple-phase change cooling

People you work with are retarted, they are also the one's that put soundblasters in the PC's you sell right?

I would get a 3200+ venice because their almost guartneed to OC good, 3000's are hit or miss, and witha 3200+ the 10 multiplier makes math easier

i think it's b/c the people that he works with use crap with the DFI?

if you use crap stuff with the DFI board (i.e. crap PSU, crap ram) then it craps out on you

but other than that, it's the best 939 board out there
