I dont understand all these names, although I somewhat know what they are...such as, clawhammer, san diego, venice..etc...could someone please briefly explain them, and what makes one better...etc.. thanks.

it's just like hurricanes dude, names are picked nothing more.....whatever capabilities one has over the other is the only thing determines one being different from another.

Newcastle = 130nm
Winchester = 90nm
Venice = 90nm but with added SSE3 instructions
San Diego = 90nm, SSE3 instructions, but 1mb of L2 cache
Clawhammer = 130nm FX-55 socket 939 1mb L2 Cache

Ok in a very brief nutshell, Clawhammer and Newcastle are the oldest of AMD 64 cores. Then came Winchester, which is a much better overclocker due to lower required VCORE voltage. The newest CPU's are Venice and San Diego, the difference being that San Diego has a 1 MB L2 cache compared to Venice's 512 Kb L2 cache. The Venice and San Diego cores are the best overclockers of the bunch.
