Hey! Need help. NOt much difference between the two since they are both Fx 5500's but one is over clocked a little

BFG GeForce FX 5500 OC 256MB DDR PCI Graphics Card- overclocked

PNY GeForce FX 5500 128MB DDR PCI Graphics Card
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6731799&type=product&id=1091099665193

Only difference is the price, one is overclocked by 20, and one is 256. So far it looks like i am going with the BFG but i wanted to hear some things from you guys. Thanks

You do realize that they make a PCI 5600, don't you? Here's a link to it: http://www.amamax.com/ge56pciwddrd1.html I have it myself and cant complain for what it is. It is faster than the overclockd 5500 as well. There is also a PCI 5700le, but dont get it because it is actually clocked slower than the 5600.

I have looked there at new egg. Best buy is just where i decided to pull them up at. I just need to know which is the better gaming card.

Well, I get about 15fps on doom 3 at 640x480 on medium detail, which is actually playable. It plays UT2004 very nicely. I have gotten up to 70fps with it on normal settings @ 1024x768.

so you would recommend it over the BFG and PNY? What about future games, how do you think it will handle? Such as GTA San Andreas and Battlefield 2. What about Half life 2 and Battlefield Vietnam?

I dont have those games but I'd say it would preform about the same as doom 3, mabey a little better. Its still not great, because it is only pci after all, but it is better than both 5500s. If you are upgrading from onboard graphics however, you will see huge preformance boost.

Doom 3 is at least playable right? Also what sort of "goodies" come with it? Would i be better off getting it or a 5700 LE?

don't you have an AGP slot in that computer?

if you don't, then your computer is too crappy for gaming anyways and shouldn't be used unless you plan on non gfx demanding games such as warcraftIII and diabloII
