hdd xp home and pro help needed

i am currently building a new machine it has an oem version of xp pro and i am trying to add a second drive from another machine.(with lots of files on it that i NEED to keep).

no matter when i set the drive to slave or master it picks up the xp home and loads it all i want to do is reteive my files so i can format the drive and start again is there a work around for my problem ????????????????

I have after much stress found a work around for those who need one if during boot up you press f8 to work in safe mode you will be able to transfer all documents that way to another drive with out anoying would you like to regiester and logging you off
