Is the limit on mhz speed different on different boards with the same socket/slot?

Is there a limit on mhz speed on certain motherboards on the slot or socket.

What I'm getting at is that I have a old Dell GX1 slot 1 board with a 400mhz cpu in it. I found a 1ghz slot 1 cpu and wanted to know if it would work.?

Also do the slot 1 to socket 370 convertors work at all?

you have to look at the motherboards specs.....even if a board has the same slot/socket it still might not be able to handle anything about a certain speed.

Ok from what I have found I should be able to upgrade to 1ghz. And those convertors (slockets) do work pretty well.
So thats good to find out.
