Can anyone recomend a good laptop to me for 1000$ or less?

Nope. The simple fact about laptops is that if you want it to be good you must pay for it. Todays "good" technology will be much more than $1000.00 USD

Well if your doing simple work, take a look at averatec laptops

However if your a power user, averatec = crap

you can get an acer w/ 15.4" WXGA screen, 1.5 pent M, 512, 80, CD-RW/DVD drive for $905 shipped. That is one heck of a deal.

IMO, there is no better maker for laptops than Toshiba.
