Whats the difference between 4x 512mb and 2x 1gig of ram?
Is the 2x 1gig sticks of ram faster? The 512mb and the 1 gig sticks would all be the same brand. Thanks

they both = 2 gigs of ram, if you can afford it, go for two 1 gig sticks, it will give you room to add two more down the line

there's no need for more than 1 gig of ram unless you are doing heavy tasking

a game takes up at most like half a gig; that's about the highest you're going to get

along with the other processes, all you need is a gig to run everything smoothly

But their's no current reason to have more than 1, but with value ram prices, it's not a bad idea

Yes, but smaller memory sized memory will have tighter timings and overclock better. 512MB will have lower latency than 1GB, just like 256MB will have lower latency than 512MB etc.
