I can not decide. I am leaning towards the X800XL, but I don't know if I am making the right choice. Which video card s better?
This is the 6800GT I am looking at:

And this is the X800XL:

Which one will provide faster framerates and overall better preformance. I have only been able to find mixed reviews. This is the system I would be building it with:
CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103530
Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813127196
Sound card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16829102164
Hard drive (2x) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822144178
RAM (2x) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146890
Please help me decide. I don't want this to turn into the next ati/nvidia fanboy smackdown 2005. I just want the facts. I do not prefer one brand over another, I just go with what is currently the best.

Well the 6800GT by far, it will also easily OC to ultra speeds.

Also if you want to play levels like HL2 HDR or any shader model 3 based games, you need an nvidia card to use these graphics features. Such games are farcry and splinter cell chaos theroy, and HL2 is HDR (Soon)

Your looking at a very expensive overepriced GT as well

EDIT: Just search for 6800GT on newegg.com, you can pick up the best 6800GT which is an eVGA which is 300$ after a 30$ rebate

wow...2-2-2-5 for cheap, dunno how they overclock

but Rev2's are very good, much better than this because they use samsung tccd's and brainpower PCB

but how do you know what these use?

As for your video card, do as the others said and get a 6800 GT. If you get an X800XL, you will be pissed off because the card is outdated and lacks Pixel Shader 3. PS3 is the most important innovation of next generation games, and game developers are even purposely excluding PS2 support to sabotage ATI cards. Plus, the ATI drivers are so bad that they are not worth the hassle at all. Believe me, I paid $400 for an X800 Pro that I wish I could return and purchase a 6800 GT.

As for your RAM, i don't know much about those brands, so I can't really make a recommendation. I do know Kingston HyperX or Corsair XMS are good if you want to go with a name brand RAM. Anything though will do you good, RAM speed (as long as its PC3200) doesn't make as much of a difference in performance as people think.

beedubaya - It would be nice to have a VGA chart and a link to your explanation of why a 660GT/6800GT are better than ATI goodies (pixel shader 3...)

perhaps you could use your MOD powers or sway an administrator... :)

It seems like the same question over and over... (Not trying to offend anyone)

well hyperX's are good b/c they use BH-5's (is it bh-6 now?)

i don't think the corsait XMS uses anything good
