DirectX Problems

Hi there, I'm having really bad problems with my directX.
everytime I try to play a game, it freezes, then I can play for like 1 to 5 minutes and then it freezes again and then unfreezes for 1 to 5 minutes etc. When I run some system checks, they claim that I don't have the latest DirextX installed, but when I run the 'dxdiag' it say I'm having 9.0b (wich is the latest.)
so can anybody help me out? Is there a way to reset the directX?
I'm using winXP and have the latest video driver (Nvidea Geforce 2 MX 100/200).

try to uniinstall all directX media, then get a program to edit the registry to clean up any refernce to directX and then install it agian.
If same thing happens.

Well...... you could always format again
