pci-e vs. agp

You will start noticing a lot more PCI-E because of its 16x bus and a lot more SLi technology. Though SLi isnt a new technology nessicarly, PCI-E joined with SLi is going to allow for much greater detail and more power to allow for the development of much better graphics in games and apps. You have to have the hardware before you can have the software. I believe that game companys create games that are best suited for the most prominent technology out.
Why would anyone create a game that cannot be played but by a tiny .50% because it requires so much graphics power? In the end PCI-E will win out and SLi will become as normal as APG was.

Quickly... when dell starts using PCI-e, you know it near standards.

Dell already has computers that uses PCI-e.

PCI-e is way faster as far as bandwidth, but current cards don't even max out AGP x8 at this point. However, PCI-e makes for a much better upgrade path...

If you're building a computer to last you some time for gaming, look for a motherboard that supports PCI-e.

PCIe isn't standard yet; Budget boards still use AGP. But AGP's lifetime is limtied, probably a year at most. As programs start to get more taxing and duel cores, and 512 mb cards become mainstream, all the stuff we see as unnecessary now will be needed.
