My computer all of a sudden shuts down right on the boot screen. The Windows XP loading screen loads and then the screen goes black and goes through the same process again....

I would love to just take my system and just rebuild it because it's been causing alot of problems. I don't know what is causing it to shut down every time I start up and I need some help with this....

Suggestions and Questions Plz!!!! I really need to get my comp fixed I have some important software and files I need to get by tomorrow!

First thing to try is a new PSU. The chip might also be overheating, but I would check the PSU first.

->Run a memory test on it for 12 hours. Memtest86 is a pretty common one.
->Slave the HD to another machine and get oyu files off it, then:
->Try a windows repair install from the windows disc, hit "R" I think when it asks you to.

EDIT: Yeah, I agree, PSU is a good thing to check first.

For some reason my parents' PC does this whenever AVG Anti-virus is installed. I boot into safe mode, uninstall AVG, and its fine again. It sounds like a DMA conflict of some sort. Before it restarts, do you get a very quick BSOD flash?
