In the System Properties it says that my system has 128MB of RAM though it has 256MB already. Why can't Windows recognize the added 128MB RAM module?

Do you have onboard graphics? If you do, it might be using the system memory as video memory in which case you would need to play around with the BIOS.

These may explain it all

Maybe your motherboard has a limit on how big each module can be. Find the documents to your mobo and take a look.

maybe the ram isint compatible with the system. i know from experience i had an old stick of pc-133 128mb in a pc-100 only slot and it told me i only had 64mb

it wasnt just Windows, even the BIOS is having the same issue. The RAM sticks really match. The original one was an InfiniteRAM DD266 and it was also exactly the one I added. Do i need to update my BIOS software?
