Building a new computer, have some issues...

I am going to build a new computer, because the one I have now has become way to old and slow, not to mention that it has no slot for an AGP video card. I have run into a problem however. I want to get the DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR motherboard, and I also want to get the Thermalright XP-90c heatsink to cool the CPU. My problem is that I am not sure if it will fit on the motherboard without blocking anything. I need to have all four RAM slots, and both PCI-e x16 slots (to get a second 6800U when the prices come down). Thermalright's website claims that the XP-90c is susposed to fit on all socket 939 motherboards no problem. But I am not sure how old that statement is. Does anybody know for sure? Umk I only checked the Mobo/Cpu/Graphics cards, but those are the only ones that matter. Why do you need 4 slots of ram? The reason we don't have 8 gigs (2x4) of RAM is that windows limits it. Extended apps are the only ones allowed t use 4 gigs of RAM, and normal programs are limited to 2.

Other than that, the system looks speed and quick....
I heard a rumor that windows XP home is better for games than win XP pro

8gb of RAM??? Thats insane! I am only getting 2gb. The reason I need all four slots is because the ram is dual channel, 1gb a set. I still don't know if the XP-90c heatsink will fit, I'd hate to get all this just to have the heatsink not fit.

WOW! $3500 for your rig... Nice.

I can't confirm or deny that your cooler will fit with all 4 sticks of RAM, but I would think that they would want to make their components universally compatible. That way they don't exclude anyone who wants to purchase thier product.

Personally, i like the Zalman CPU cooler better, but that is only my opinion.(The Zalman would allow me to utilize all 4 RAM slots on an MSI board.)

Oh I understand...My response is then why not get a stick of 2 gig...that'd be a little quicker, but more expensive than 2x1 gig...oh wait...*thinks*
no 2 gig sticks of ram out yet, sry.

Are you planning on Ocing? cauze then you should just run around w/ stock stuff.

As long as you can put your RAM in the 2 slots far away from the CPU, i THINK it'll be fine....

Hmm, that looks really nice. How big is it compared to a stock heatsink/fan combo? What kind of temps do you get with it? And emeraldice, sure I could probably find some cheap 1gb sticks of RAM, but I chose what I did for several reasons. 1) It's the best brand of RAM you can get 2) It has an extremley low latency (2-5-5-5) 3) It has heatspreaders which is really good for overclocking 4) It's dual channel, which is basicly twice as fast as regular RAM.

does RAM generate a lot of heat, why place the RAMs far away from the CPU?

1gb G skill LA's (1 gig is more than enough; these are the most overclockable ram)

M-audio revolution//audiophile, or if you have the money, firewire (they are much better than creative)
2x 74g Raptors in Raid0
and maybe a 250gb seagate 7200.8 SATA hdd for storage?

Zalman Heatsink Dimensions: 109 (L) x 109 (W) x 62 (H) mm

Zalman Height= about the same, maybe a little taller
Zalman Width= definitely wider - about an inch
Zalman Length= definitely longer - maybe 3/4 inch

Sorry i can't get more accurate numbers, i'm at work and my computrer is at home..

Temps= 36 idle and about 47 full load (running Prime 95 for hours and hours) - My processor core is not the Venice. The Venice core uses less energy so it should run cooler. (my opinion)
