Comp Stuck In MS-Dos Mode!!!

help! i posted a forum before stating that my computer wouldnt boot to the desktop..well i think its stuck in Dos mode.. it shows the startup selection but then when i choose enter i wait a couple seconds and the selection goes away, then this little white line not so big in the top left hand corner is blinking..sorta like if you were in command prompt! please help me!

And btw i try reinstalling 98se from a burned cd but it wont boot..im sure my uncle has done it with the same cd

It might not be finding the bootsector for your Windows. Try holding down F8 when you start the computer and try getting that boot selection screen. It should have the following options.
Last Good Configuration
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Start Windows Normally


Try booting with Safe Mode.

someone said theres something corrupt in the master boot record...i think i should just reformat

Well, you have Windows 98, right? If I were you, I'd just reformat, since you say it won't boot at all.
