Recommended Motherboard for me?

Well dual channel is pretty important

I say sell your old combo, but a DFI Lanparty in 939 and get a venice.

You can justify the switch from your older clawhammer or newcastle, and a 3000+ venice usually hits 2.8+ GHZ on air cooling

Well AMD just announced that they will be discontinuing all manufacturing and support for socket 754 so you should sell it while you can still get a decent price.

Well according to Nvidia one has an extra 16 PCI-E lanes, to run 2x PCI-E graphics cards in SLI

In reality, the difference is one connection which you can connect by yourself

Thx for the reply DJ-Chris.

However, you did not mention which of the two mobos has an extra 16 PCI-E slot. The LanParty UT nF4 SLI-D?

Also, can you elaborate what you meant by "the difference is one connection which you can connect by yourself" cos it's not very clear to me.

Thx in advance.

The Ultra-D and SLI board are almost the same Sevenor. The only thing that really seperates them is one resistor on the chipset which you can easily turn an Ultra-D into a SLI board by closing (connecting) the two spots of the resistor as seen here:

http://www.logan.eclipse.co.uk/abit_nf7_(s)_v2_0.htm

The SLI board uses 8x/8x

whereas Ultra-D uses 16x/2x

This of course is referring to bandwidth per slot.

That article I linked basically explains what each does a little more indepth as well as the benefits of the mod and such

Thx Nubius for the excellent link to the infomative article.

BTW, what does "RMA" the mobo mean?

Thx again
