i got my pc hooked up to a router and since the mobo has dual lan jacks they are both plugged in .. however when am using the net or any online related task the port which is being utilised is the nvidia nForce MCP networking adapter .. i wud prefer that the 3com broadband controller handle that but how do i get it to function as the primary network adapter ? ..

1 gb corsair pc 3200
80 gb seagate 7200 rpm
120 gb seagate 7200 rpm
radeon 9800 pro 128 mb
volcano 9 cooling fan
plus dvd-roms, mouse, keyboard etc. etc ..

in response to the last post 'how' exactly do you suppose i switch around the two ?

i have this motherboard, there should be nothing to set up. just plug the cable that you receive the internet connection to the 3com controller instead of the Nvidia mcp.

i do not understand why you are using both network cards and what is plugged into each of them. if you are plugging both NICs to the same network that is redundant and pointless. also do you have the network connections bridged in winXP?

the a7n8x deluxe has an onboard ethernet card, is this the Nvidia mcp? if not try swapping the cards around

well there are no seperate cards for the dual lan option .. they are built into the mobo ... as for the network connections both the wires are plugged into the same router which is also connected to 2 other pcs .. u guys think file transfers and overall internet bandwidth is improved by that ? .. i tried bridging the connection in xp but it dint do much ..

you can not agregate 2 connections from one computer on the same network hoping to speed up your data tranfer rate because your router is probably not capable of more than 100Mbps.

100Mpbs + 100Mpbs (200Mbps) into a maximum 100Mbps network does not work. more than 1 NIC is useful in your situation if you want to set up a computer for a ICS setup to aggregate multiple internet connections. useful if you need to download porn faster.

another use for this would be for one computer to be a member of more than one network. what you want to do is not possible.
