Sharing a dialup connection

Thanks for that information it helps. A fifty foot crossover cable is 6USD, where a router is more expensive.

Either setup would work. I would like to try the crossover method first because its cheaper and our internet connection is dial up and i dont think a router works with dial up, does it?

routers /w dial up functionality are available. typically it uses the dialup modem as a backup connection. ive seen some with the dialup modem built in.
