Is there a way to make an image of your hard drive, and burn it to cd, such as creating a recovery style disk so that when I format my drive, instead of doing an install and installing all of my applications, just have an image that I could boot from cd and install on the hard drive?

well this does depend on the total amount of stuff you have on your drive. I do this with Ghost. Others will tell you DriveImage is the way. It's all in what you are looking for. I'm familiar with Ghost, have used it for years and it does what I want it to. Plus I can manipulate the file once it's complete. That is what I would do, but I'm sure others will have their opinion too.
if you need help from here, let us know.
Good luck

I have used ghost myself at work, i'm not overly concerned with splitting the file, this will basically be windows xp pro with the updates and service packs, and possibly office, and i have a dvd burner and a couple of duel layered discs.
