Intel Naming Scheme

Perhaps the title is wrong, but thats the closest I could think of. Everyone knows the new scheme used by Intel to identify their processors, right? You know, 530, 530J, 630, 725, etc...

Can someone tell me how to decipher these? It dosent really maek sense to me.
 
I dont think i like it. Very deceiving. But not pretentious, as their lovely counterpart AMD. :)
 
I think its alright, but I liked their naming convention better before when they would just state the frequency.
 
What I am wondering is, if Intel stops doing their "frequency" thing from now on, what the hell is AMD gonna do with their "XX00+" rating? lol
 
Oh damn, good question. I dont think Intel is going to completely abandon their frequency thing. If they do, I guess AMD will have to come right out and say that they are better than Intel. Perhapd, make AMD 540+, 550+, 640+, etc...
 
It does suck, but is as follows
5xx Normal P4
6xx 64-bit P4
7xx Mobile
8xx Dual core P D
