I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 with a 128Mb GeFroce FX5650 with driver version 44.82. Last week I downloaded the latest drivers (52.16) off the nVidia website but it doesent seem to be able to install. I run the installer I downloaded and it appears to install fine but when I restart the computer and check the drivers, it still says 44.82 and not 52.16. Anyone know hhow to fix this?

I'm using Windows XP Home. Is "detonator destroyer" an app? Where can I get it?

Perfect instructions MB! :)

Unlike other drivers,, the "detonators" cannot be applied over top of each other,, the old has to be removed ,, prior to the new being installed,,

As MB said,, get the Detonator Destroyer and run it ,, reboot , and Billy - Bob's yer uncle!

(youre not from Virginia or Arkansas are ye?)

LOL,, just havin fun tonight,,

It is a downloadable app from Nvidia,,

cheers,

I just checked on the nVidia website and it says this:

"simply run the drivers you have downloaded by double-clicking on the file. The drivers will automatically update your current drivers and make the necessary changes to your system."

It does not mention anything about needing to uninstall old drivers before installing new ones.

OK never mind; I just found the section that says I have to remove old drivers.
