the 939 is better. plus that chip will overclocker further than the newcastle. go 939 for def

939 winchester

no matter what cpu you are getting, you can't OC very good unless you have decent ram/reputable OCing mobo that people recommend

Timmer, we are well aware socket 939 dont have a FSB. Socket 939's are amoung the best OC. This summer the new AMD64 cores are coming out. For the 3200/3500/3800, maybe 1 more not positive. They will all have 1MB L2 cache. They will be the BEST OC processors for AMD. The AMD4000 has 1MB cache same with the FX's. So nothing limits you now. With OC you can beat there benchies.

Both socket 754 and 939 have intergrated memory controllers on the chip and feature the hypertransport bus. The only distinguishing factor between them is the HTT multiplier is 5 on the socket 939 chips versus 4 on the socket 754 chips therefore the 939 chips have slightly faster bus (200MHz).

Generally speaking, the AMD food chain is:

Venice < Winchester < Newcastle < Clawhammer/Sledgehammer
