If you still want to completely remove it:
Go to START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL.
ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
Find MSN MESSENGER (WINDOWS MESSENGER for some people)
Click on MSN MESSENGER (Or WINDOWS MESSENGER) to make it highlighted
Then click on REMOVE
Follow the directions from then on.
Then go to MY COMPUTER
Press LOCAL DISK ( Or DRIVE C:\ or just C:\)
Click on PROGRAM FILES
If you see a folder that says "MSN MESSENGER" or "WINDOWS MESSENGER" delete it
Go to START, and RUN
Enter the word REGEDIT
Find the file HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
Open it
Look down the list until you find any files that say "Msn Messenger on it
Delete any of these files
Now go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Find the tab "Software" and click on it
Find the file "Microsoft" and click on it
Delete any files that have to do with Msn Messenger
Find the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Find the folder SOFTWARE and click on it
Then find the folder MICROSOFT and click on it
Delete any folders having to do with Msn Messenger
Then, open HKEY_USERS
Open the .DEFAULT folder
Open the "Software" folder
Open the "Microsoft" folder
From there, delete any files having to do with Msn Messenger
That should be all you have to do to delete Msn Messenger completely from your computer. Si there will be no referance at all of it being on your system.

What the instructions really told you were to remove the Msn Messenger program from your computer, and then you deleted all the Registery information files of Msn Messenger
