not recognizing my pentium m???

hey there all... i just had a laptop built for me wiht a 256 mb video card... i'm a little disappointed with the framerates i'm getting... i ran the command msinfo32 and it says i have a genuine intel 600 mhz... when i saw the pentium m 1.8 ghz put in myself... is it not recognizing the proceccor??? is this why it isn't quite as quick as i expected???

it says the BIOS Version/Date Is American Megatrends Inc. 11/15/2004... this is the chassis the laptop was built on... if i updated this would it help???

update the bios from the laptop manufacturer's website maybe...install the processor again?
