Same box as above ^.Now everything is going fine and I didn't think there were any problems with it, but I got a call from the moms sister that it was built for, and she says it freezes us. Well she just says "The Fish Stop Swimming." Which is desktopx which she loves. Anyway it's a 100% nub question but I can't think of reasons it's freezing. I'm gonna stop by her house sunday but I have no idea unless it's an AOL conflict? I don't know anyone that uses AOL anymore so I have no idea.

I don't think it's a ram issues (though it maybe,) because everytime I've seen this to be a ram issue the PC just randomly restarts, but now it's just freezing up. What do you guys think?

Thanks again,

Vump

A random restart sounds like overheating or a faulty PSU as far as the freezing goes, when someone mentions AOL:rolleyes: .... It could be several things check and see if you can get updates for the video card driver as well as any other hardware. Find out what she was doing before it froze up, that way you'll have a starting point.

Well she said she's AFK when it happens. Like over night? That's what set me off. Last i remember it was hovering around 42C at max load.. Still thinking its faulty psu?

Yeah it's definitely at night when it happens. She said it hasn't happened while she's on it yet.

Ran a mem test for about 3 hours and all is clear (I understand the reasons for running it over night but it finished an entire pass and I don't think that is the problem.)

This is most definitely an insane heat problem. Just when I open PC Health Status in bios we're looking at around 64deg C all the time.. This is obsurd. He house is very warm where the computer is and I addressed that with her so now she is leaving the AC on. The problem is the case though. It's a micro ATX which she wanted but the airflow is almost nill. The PSU is about half an inch away from the top of the HSF. I don't understand why the case was designed like this. There is only one spot for a fan and thats a very small 40mm fan in the back. Here's what I proposed was that I buy a new HSF (i'm using the stock semporn which has always been very successful at hovering the cpu at around 35-40 at max load) and a big generic white case for her. I think I can use the same PSU but I'm not positive of that. And then I'll just get three case fans and just wear out the air flow. I can't believe its running this hot. Are there any different suggestions you guys have?

viruses or spyware on your system perhaps? Or files were deleted. How is your memory, 512 MB is recommended for XP.
