I want to remove my nvsilencer 5 off my card for a sec and add a little more as5 to the cpu to help contact, if I remove the fan, do I have to reapplay the as5 to everything all over again? Or can I add a little.. smoothen it out and reinstall the fan.
It's good to make the layer as thin as possible as long as the micro crevices are filled in completely by the compound. If you don't clean it up, the "thickness" will be higher than it should - even though the holes will still be filled up.
Yes, if you want to reapply it, clean it all off first, and then reapply another layer, you want to keep the contact with the die and heatsink base as close as possible.
