Thats what i done but its a mistake i made, 754 isnt all that great, if possible find a combo with a 939 socket, and a board with the same specs. And 939 isnt realy more expensive than 754

It comes out a little cheaper than NewEgg, but I wouldn't go with it.

For $235 (including shipping), you can get an MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard as well as an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester 1GHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor from NewEgg.

Socket 939 is the way to go. True, this mobo is PCI-E instead of AGP, but I figured that you would surely upgrade your vid card when you take the plunge. The CPU is OEM, but everyone needs to use something besides stock cooling. The retail version is only about 4 or 5 bucks more.

939 supports dual channel, some other stuff, and it's actually upgrade-able in the future (the 754 is dead already)

I'd rather have AGP, because I'm buying a new card for my pentium 4 and I'm just gonna use my old card (GeForce 2 ti) but what do you guys think of Chaintech?

why? the amd 64 will performance a lot better than the intel, so you should get a new gfx card for that

and yea, that chaintech board on newegg with 100+ reviews is good
