I have a mobo that suports 150MB/sec SATA. I see that they now have SATA II that supports 300MB/sec transfers. If I get a SATA II hard drive, would it be backwards compatable with my mobo. I know the speed will be slower, but will it at least run fine at 150MB/sec?

it would but there are no SATAII drives out simply cos no drive can give u that kinda speed. i dont know why they spent time and effort on making SATAII when SATA is nowhere near fully used. i mean a 7200rpm drive might give u 65mb/s.

About how many MBPS would a RAID 0 with two WD Raptors (10,000 RPM, SATA...) produce? anywhere NEAR 150 MBPS?
THanks

I would be shocked if it wasn't... that would be frustrating though.. just knowing your drive COULD run at 300 but your SATA bus is maxing at 150... ugh!

@yanbooth. according to sandra 2 raptors in raid0 would only give 95mb/s now i dont know how close this actually is to the real value but im guessing not far off. my two 7200 get 92mb/s so on that theres not that much of a difference tbh
