Better system for Gaming?

Hey i was just wondering what system would be a better setup for playing games such as COD, Battlefield 2(when its out) half life 2 etc


Intel Pentium 4 3.0E GHz Boxed (Prescott 0.09u 1Mb Cache)

Gigabyte GA-8I915G-DUO motherboard

Kingmax DDR2 512Mb PC4200 (533MHz) Memory (i'l get another 512 within a month or so)

GIGABYTE NX66256DP GEF6600, 256MB

or

AMD Athlon 64 2800+

Gigabyte GA-K8NS motherboard

Generic 512Mb PC3200 DDR Ram x 2

GIGABYTE N66T128D GEF6600GT, 128MB

Well both those are around $750 AUD
that about all i wanna spend, maybe $850 if its worth it

The 6600GT 128MB is better than the 6600 256MB.

The AMD system would be alot better in games, more ram, faster video card, and the processor is still very good.


In Far cry the 2800 beats the 3.2ghz prescott (http://www20.tomshardware.com/cpu/20041221/cpu_charts-15.html#directx_9)


I would recomend getting a socket 939 though, as you will get the dual channel ram, that gives a nice boost.
