I have an MSI k8n neo2 platinum motherboard with an on board sound card which uses realtek drivers.

The soundcard is connected to a home theater 5.1ch, dts amp using SPDIF (coaxial)

The soundcard will only output sound in stero, even when multichannel tracks are being played. (THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE AMP, I HAVE TESTED IT)

Does anyone know how to make the soundcard output correctly?

I have used an msi utility that comes with my motherboard to allow you to test speakers, it shows a picture of each speaker and they flash when sound is supposed to be played. Only the front two make a sound.

Cheers from ad.

That sounds like a similar problem that I had with my Asus A7V8X Deluxe 2.0. When I finaly got it to work it was through a portion of the asus onboard sound setup utility. It asked me were I had plugged each of my speakers into. I think my two outputs are shot, but it let me set the line in, and the mic in as speaker outputs and that worked for me.

Hopefully MSI has something similar.
