Pentium 1 Problem

I'm trying to install DSL on my P1, but when I tried to install it by floppy (I have to), it said to reformat the harddrive as FAT32 to put the files on temporarily, so I did. Now, when I try to access the drive at all thru the DOS prompt, it says

Invalid media type reading drive C
Abort, Fail, Retry

What should I do? Thanks.

Just running off a Windows 98 bootdisk right now, and yes I know...

EDIT: In fact, that was the intention.

ok well install 98 w/ a FAT32 partition and you should be cool. just install the stuff from inside windows
