Windows XP - is my install good?

Hi

I had Win ME on my system. I then bought Win XP Pro 'upgrade'.

I ran the upgrade. all went well. I then deleted all old programs etc.

Can you tell me what the average amount of disk space a fresh XP Pro installation should occupy?

I want to know am I wasting HD space.

Can I use XP Pro upgrade and format my drive and re-install for optimum upgrade?
Do I need to do this drastic measure? or is there a program that can have a look around now that XP is in?

additional:
I have a 30gig HD
5gig in mydocuments
half gig prog files

but it says 15 gig used (including windows files etc)

The space XP takes up is worth it upgrading from ME (Microsoft has abandoned ME) - you can convert to NTFS which actually saves a lot of space

when i had FAT32 i had 30 GB used & 10 GB free, but when i converted to NTFS it went down to 20 used and 20 free!!
you can use a program called Partition Magic to convert the drive

winXP and OSX take up about the same space i think, about 1.5 GB.

You would need the "Full Install" for a clean install of XP but it sounds like you're one of the lucky few to use the "Upgrade Disk". If it's working just fine then you're Styling dude!!

That's one of the selling points of Win XP is the NTFS File System as far as reliability goes.
