Sound dissapeared on my computer??

All of the sudden I have no sound. My speakers are plugged in, the sound card says it is working properly and enabled. The master speaker control in the lower right hand corner looks good.

I'm running XP Pro and have an Albatron Pro 2 865 board with onbard sound. The sound was running fine until a day ago and it just stopped? any ideas?

Driver

Try re-installing your driver. Ive had this happen to me before. And installing the driver over fixed it right up.

my suggestion is narrow the problem, b/c it sounds like you didn't check to see if the speakers were working. Try something else as well, like headphones or something, could easily be a loose connection...then see what happens.....

I tried reinstalling, the speakers are brand new and were working fine.

not to belabor the point, but check the speakers on something else then......you need at least rule it out....

It might be something as simple as having it muted under volume control if you havent checked that already. From time to time my volume control will mute itself.
