Well, last time I checked, forums were to help people out, and to give people more information about topics in which they don't know. Your question was for some information about something in which you don't know about, however, it is illegal. When you run a program, you agree to its liscence. When you illegaly crack it, edit the program, etc.. it's extremely imoral, if you have any morals. And if you don't... well then good luck with your life.
And on forums such as this... as you should see... 99% of questions are to help someone with _their_ problem, they're not asking how to create a problem for someone else. Am I correct? And well, with your illegal use of software, you shouldn't be allowed to use the site, IMO. However, you really should watch what you say, because apparently you don't know anything about computers. If you can't get into a computer in safe mode (XP as you said?) then you really should not tell someone who has a lot more computer knowledge that yourself, especially since this site is basically dedicated to computer users... Please, refrain from using any such language or words to deal with cracking, or anything of the sort.

On the otherhand, if you're doing a bit to get into computers... as 'hacking the registry', that is ok, since it's not violating any liscenses. But anything illegal could be reported (especially if it's being supported by the owner/admins of this site) and this site could be shut down by the federal government. I've seen it happen personally 3 times, 1 a friend of mine, innocent, but someone on the site was talking about cracking Windows XP, someone reported it, and it got investigated for about 2 hours (according to the investigator, since the info was right there) and the site was shut down, and a $1,000 fine to him (my friend, as he lost his hosting service, what he paid for 3 months, and he had to pay the fine).

If you don't believe me, or you don't wish to listen to me, so be it. There's exacly one thing I can do though, state my opinion, as I have.

And just because someone has spyware doesn't mean they are doing shady/adult things. Perfectly innocent people can get spyware and virii. Why is there such a huge market for scanners? And if only the crackers and porno freaks got spyware, I'm not sure it would be as widely publicized as it is. How the person got it is a non-issue here, unless it is made into one.

Anyway, I use SpyBot: S&D and Norton Anti-Virus (only because it came with my mobo). I should use more, I know. One good way to stop getting spyware, however, is to switch from IE to another browser that is less common and therefore less targeted. If you must stick with IE though, turn off all ActiveX scripts (or set them to prompt).

Microsoft AntiSpyware. It is free for downloading at Microsoft's website. But only if you have a valid copy of Windows.

You can always select "do not validate" (I always do) when you download Microsoft's Anti-Spyware.

Did we get way off base here? Spyware is loaded into many free programs as a price to pay for them being free. You dont have to do anything illegal or perverted to get it . People need to think before they post!!!!!

Okay, jcortes, I'm going to stop my imaturity. As I now know you've used a crack, let's get on to the removal. What crack was it, I may be able to find out which spyware was in it. It also might be Malware. Was it by any chance for Trillian, because I had a friend with a problem with it.

I wasn't implying that he was at a pornographical site, or that doing any shady/adult things. I was asking a question about what he wanted, based on his previous posts.

jcortes, I'll have to apologize for the (bah I don't know the word) 'stereotyping'? I shouldn't have been that prejudice(sp). But, either way, if I were you, I wouldn't download any cracks, unless you know someone who has used them before. About 90% of the sites that have masses of cracks on them, have spyware, maleware, etc...

Now onto the current topic, so when do you need this AV, or... are you just wanting it for future use for somethign you _might_ do?
